I know that tim, im just giving options...

Without actual pay, but would require time, you could study the quicktime QTVR method since making movies in QTVR makes automatic pan and zoom, including click thrus available... I had a major project like this before for a Copact Disc property presentation. I used html and QTVR.

For a software, easypano.com have a bunch of software for this purpose. Other sites even accept doing this for you. See this link to have a feel http://www.easypano.com/Gallery/Tourweaver/Hotel_flash/tour.html

its a flash combo

Righteo on that (Term: Virtual Tour). If everyone was a geek, life would be easier.

I use video often at work to demonstrate systems... Flash has been a very handy tool.

Sally,

As long as you already have the video converted to whatever format you want, there are a couple of options. You can always just use a normal link, but instead of pointing it to an HTML file, just point it to your movie file. That would be the easiest on your end.

If you would like it to be part of a normal web page, with your navigation, header and other design elements on the same page with the actual playing video, you will have to use some embedding, which takes a little bit of HTML coding.

Do you already have a video in digital format? If so, what is the file extension? .MOV? .AVI? .WMV? Or something else entirely?

Demonhale and Rob: I don't know about you guys, but I've often found that when many people, including past clients of mine, say "virtual tour," they are not necessarily talking about the technology that we geeks think of as a virtual tour. Instead, they are meaning it more literally. They just want something where website visitors can see around their physical location. For them, the best solution is not always what we think of as a virtual tour, but can often be a short video or even just a photo gallery. It depends on them and on their target audience.

One thing to consider with Flash is that 90 some percent of internet user already have the plugin installed... and a simple leading bar will let users know how long the download will take.

Flash 8 allows you to stream video... but there aren't as many peopl who have the Flash 8 player... anyone know the statistics on that?

Hi Tim

I'm not too bothered if they have the facility to move the camera around. I think at this stage I'd like to have a short video of perhaps each room in the house and a drop down menu with the rooms listed.

I'll have a read through your article though, thanks.

Ideally, I'd like the video to play as soon as the link is opened but not sure if I'll manage that.

I'd also like it to look like this with the scroll menu http://www.elr.co.uk/ - but again I'm not sure if I'd be able to manage this
