Thanks for everyones input. Rob, you probably won't like the updated design any more but it is 95% there now and has to be launched tomorrow so i would love some more critiques!

http://www.sixthsense-esp.co.uk/index.htm

It should all be functioning without any errors. I need to go through it and make sure things like ALT tags are in but that's it pretty much. I will then try and make it more accessible over the next week or so.

Cheers,

-Rob

I like the old one... The layout is much better and you see what the site is about quicker... the new one I am wondering what it is that you do... At leas the old one I see a portfolio link right there at eye level. If you don't like the colors... change em.

The text is too small on the new one and I don't like the primary site navigation on the right side of the screen... it seems... hidden.

Definately new one. Plus it has room for adding stuff in the future. It looks cleaner and professional. Go for it ASAP.

I really like the new design. Black seems a bit too depressing on the old design. I can't clearly see the logo on my end. I am not sure if I like the picture you have for the main page. My first impression of your site is that it was about sixth sense, life, dreams. When I read further I realized it was about web design. I THINK the picture might have something to do with my first impression of your site. Good work, good sight, but you might have to clarify your business by changing the image? Just my impression. Good luck with your website. Melanie

so it comes back again as usability issue... I liked your old design, but then the new is way welocming, but again it doesnt hit yet... some few refinements could do the trick.

Texts and the Menu could be redone... Some layout can be changed to make it work... Looks promising though...

Who cares if the text is aesthetically good looking if people can't read it? I hear this all the time from graphic designer types and I find it rather baffling. Text is meant to be read. Also think about who your target audience is. Small text is okay for younger audiences and sometimes more technical types who like text small. IMO, text should always be resizeable (defined in percentages or ems) and set close to the default size (so people don't have to be changing their font size for every site they see).

Oh, no, I'm on another rant about tiny text ...

Thanks for the comments.

I thought the size of the text might pop up. Aesthetically i think the text looks better smaller, i might put in some javascript to make it easy to re-size.

My colleague said the same thing with the buttons, might have a think about that.

I'll get that report done for you Janet in the morning.

Cheers,

What exactly are you trying to do differently with the new design? I think the old one was good enough, but the new one is much lighter and cleaner feeling.

I am having a hard time reading the text because I'm finding it to be small, especially in comparison with the scale of everything else. The logo is also smaller and the tagline harder to read.

I think this one has potential but it's not quite there yet. Making the font readible would help. I also find the notches on the navbar to be kind of weird. In general that navigation menu is not prominent enough. People might have difficulty seeing it.

I like the images with the tape on the bottom (that seems to be a new trend - i was just on a website earlier today that had a very realistic looking post-it note). I feel like they should be click-able.

I also feel like the background shoudl be white and not pale grey.
