FYI here are some stats i have collected on 10 websites over a few months.

Screen Colours:

32 bit = 84.26%
16 bit = 10.26%
24 bit = 3.66%
8 bit = 1.83%

81% of people use Internet Explorer, 63% on a 1024x768 resolution screen with 97% of people running on Windows.

Of course, it will always depend on your audience, but in general using non-web-safe colors is fine now.

Nah, nobody in their right mind would still use web-safe palette - and well nobody does either i don't think. You're perfectly fine to use the full palette

Thankyou I think you're both right. I did have 'snap to web colors' selected and I don't know what color setting I had but I'll keep an eye on it.

Do we need to bother with the websafe palette anymore. It was created for dinosaur computers with limited colour range so do we need to stick to it still? Let's face it they're crap.

I am designing an e-newsletter for a client and they're wanting colours that just aren't in the palette. Should I stick with it or use the full colour range?

You probably have web-safe colours on in Dreamweaver.

Uncheck 'snap to web safe' to use the full palette.

Try checking your colour settings, sometimes, they make all the difference
