yeah i know, just seems a pointless method of doing it when clicking the bookmarks thing is just as fast.

DaveyBoy, browsers like mozilla etc allow dragable options to be included. If you have the latest Firefox right click on the tool bar somewhere and select customize, it's all done by dragging the icons to the bar, same method as you mentioned.

Yeah i don't like them either. I think some people sometimes have a hyperlink which points to their homepage and has the text 'drag this over home page icon to make your homepage' which i never quite understand

Those link options are real cheesy and un professional.
People who like your site will bookmark it, and if like a lot of people perfer to place in a folder within their bookmarks.
