wordpress is really limited I found it hard to change the header to integrate it with the header of your website.

I use greymatter, but that is also limited though the header is integrated well enough.

Hi all

We started a blog with pLog. Lots of features and very user friendly.

But after 4 months, and after promoting it very well, its principal problem appeared:
The system 'eats' resources from the hosting server when receive multiple visits simultaneously, or the visits are around 3,000 or 4,000 a day.

The fact is: My site is down now, I changed hosting twice in 30 days, and my programmer is looking for alternatives.

I really don´t know what to do from now on

Any advice??

If I had a choice I'd go with Wordpress or Mambo.. Also Joolma bought mambo and they're continuing the updates so i suggest that you check into that.

I used Drupal to create the Mill Valley Film Festival site. You can see that it can create a pretty decent site.

However, to get it to work, I had to fight it like mad. I installed the PHPTemplates plugin, and a dozen others. I wrote custom PHP code to overload some of the built-in functions. Overall, it was not beginner-friendly. I was lucky to have PHP skills.

While JLHost doesn't like Mambo, I do have to admit that it is the kind of solution that works well out-of-the-box. Having to learn their terminology and interface is a little annoying, but being able to deploy a site without heavy hacking is always nice.

I would go for the simplicity and concentration on content, of Wordpress.

Mambo is the kind of CMS I do not like - too heavy and too beginner-like administration.

I've used Word Press for photo blogs and regular blogging, nothing like you are looking for though, it's limited. Good luck and post when you find the solution!

I've had success with Drupal. Plenty of nice modules available for it.
