If you use Macromedia Dreamweaver, You can also purchase a seperate program called contrabute that allows people to edit pages on the web site directly and restricts what they can do.

You use a file check in/out system that stops a user from editing that file at the same time as someone else. Its quite a good system but it does have its problems.

There is one more option other than developing a CMS. And at is an online htmleditor. This tool is a WYSIWYG editor. The client selects the html file he wants to edit and can easily edit the content and graphics online and save the file. Anybody without any html knowledge can edit thier own html pages.

This feature is know a days is provided by almost all the hosts. But if your host is not providing this feature than you can install your own WYSIWYG editor.

To find the online editor providers search for " ONLINE WYSIWYG EDITOR" and you will find a lot.

Yes you do and sometimes they dont understand why... you did the same design for less, why request another payment for the same design; the answer is the coding it gets to make it easy for them, the backend stuff really, you wouldnt even notice that it was different even if you put in an active editor to an existing site...

Unfortuanately, it sounds like you may have to pay more to have things set up for you to do this.

demonhale wrote: Usually I suggest to my clients that if they intend to do uploads and text updates on their own after I develop their sites, I make there site with a CMS or PHP coding support, wherein a client can login to the page they want to edit contents of and update texts and add pics on that page without destroying the whole layout... So the way to do it is have a site in CMS (content management system) and you must let your developer know you intend to do things that way,

Exactly what Demonhale said.

My client Hubley Homes, he wanted to be able to add his own news, listings, photos and so on. Actually he control pretty much the whole site content. I used about 5 php scripts and customized them so the layout was exactly like his site. Now when he wants to add a link. I made him a Conrol Panel with all the links to the services he needs.

WATCH OUT THOUGH. sometime the scripts will give your client more powers then he/she should have (admin stuff like MySQL info, paths and so on) to edit content.
