Some people use way too much of it too. That's an even bigger turn-off.

teammatt wrote: I can say that adsense is the lazy man's way to make a small, quick buck.

I totally agree. I know some sites can make quite a lot, but the ones that I have heard of do *a lot* of fiddling around with placement and design. If you put a lot of work into it and get a good amount of traffic you can earn some good money.

However, google is still taking a chunk of your revenue. From a webmaster's perspective I think it's a much better idea to sell your own advertising if you can. Then you keep all your money I also agree with Matt that there are better ways to monetize a site than splashing advertising all over it.

Quote: I think having Adsense can turn a person off a site faster then your content can excite them or keep their interest.

I would agree to an extent. Many techies are turned off by adsense, they just think the site exists to make money, which they don't like. I definitely wouldn't put it on a new site, or any type of advertising for that matter. New sites don't get enough traffic to generate money anyway, so why put ads on it when it can turn people off?

As for adsense in general, I didn't have success with it, so I hate it . Now that I've tried other ways to make money, I can say that adsense is the lazy man's way to make a small, quick buck. A real man doesn't make money from PPC or CPM, info products and premium memberships are the way to go .

Not bad if placed correctly, Ive seen a bunch of sit make adsense to good use, some redesign the look that you mistake it for regular links, but anywho, if you earn a couple clicks from it then its good, if not and is placed badly then its useless...
