What is the speed of your processor, amount of RAM, and amount of free disc space? You need a lot of power to edit video files.

OK one problem solved, one to go!

OK, I was able to get my videos to play on my site by using windows movie maker, but now I am trying to put together one of the videos in windows movie maker, and when I go to save it to my computer, it saves part of it, then freezes my computer. I have tried multiple times, and each time it saves to a different level, sometimes 37%, and as high as 68%. I do not understand what is going on. I was able to build one movie with this maker, but this one in particular is giving me problems, any ideas?

But in the meantime:

Are you sure you uploaded the movie file? Is the path to the file correct? For example your code reads src="filename.wmf" but the file in actually located in folder/filename.wmf or the other way around....the browser might be looking for folder/filename.wmf, and the file is actually in the root.

Also..code errors..things like unclosed tags, missing quote marks etc. etc. will cause problems with display and function.

Can you post a url? It's hard to troubleshoot when you can't see the code.

Still no luck

I have done what was recommended, and converted the videos to .wmv extensions by using windows movie maker, and they still will not play on my site. I build using frontpage 2003, and my web host tells me that it is something with the coding I use to publish, but I am doing everything, and when I test view the page prior to publishing, the videos play fine, but once I publish them...nothing...Any more ideas, I sure appreciate all the help you have provided so far!

List of mime types

You can convert to the smaller leaner .wmf by bringing your .avi into Windows Movie Maker if you are running XP.

I don't know if Mac users would have an issue with the .wmf format or not.

Also you could search download. com for possible free converters if you're not running XP, which comes with the Movie Maker.

You may want to try to add this to your .htaccess file and see it will help

AddType video/x-msvideo .avi

This should hopefully then allow you to run the videos you need.

you'll need to convert them to either .MOV or .WMV to be able to stream them from your site i think.
