etech-peter wrote: Then, if it's a good domain, you'll have to use every drop service you can and be prepared to bid against others.

You're suggesting using multiple backorder services? Sounds like you don't think it's worth it because it's nearly impossible?

If it helps, the domain I'm interested in is important to me for personal reasons. It is possible that other individuals may have a similar personal interest but the targeted domain name has absolutely zero commercial value what so ever. I'm willing to pay the $20 for it but it's not worth me to actually bid more than an extra 5 bucks.

Also, my preferred registrar is godaddy, so I would be using godaddy as the backorder service. Any issues with them for this purpose? They operate a bidding service, so would they purposely "fail" to backorder just to send it to their own bidding system? (See #2 in the first section of the article) (but then read #5 in the second section of the article - they say be careful because they don't work with othe registrars but remember that I said this domain is of no commercial value. Given the low profile this domain has, the low price seems worth the chance?)

P.S. Thanks for the larticle ink.

How long varies by registrar, despite the existence of guidelines. You'll need to track the domain until it reaches "pending delete, scheduled for release" status.

Then, if it's a good domain, you'll have to use every drop service you can and be prepared to bid against others.

The following link will help you know more about it-
