someone else that uses whois.sc LOL. it is a very good site. I've even followed their link to register domain names for $6.95. Pretty good (they advertise a different compnay now i think).

Here is a way to see if they have a dedicated IP address if you know they are using a hosting company. Once you find the IP address, browse to the address (http://320.23.43.55/ ) From my experience, if they use the same IP adress for multple sites, you will get one of three things: A page from the hosting company, the first domain set up to that IP, or the last one set up for that IP. Again, this applys to if you know it is through a hosting company, not someone running their own server.

Example. try that with the domain webmaster-foums.net, enter the IP returned for the domain name, and you won't end up here at the forums. Try that with wtvgames.com and you will get the same site if you enter the domain name or the ip address. My hosting company charges $1 month on domain names becuase they set them up with dedicated IP addresses. (please, no comments about places I can go that don't do that. I like my host.)

The whois.sc site usually does give pretty good detail, and for a paid account, you can can see prior whois records.

If you can get shell access, do a nslookup domain.com to get the ip address, then do nslookup ip address. If it is dedicated IP address it should come back to the same domain as you started with.
