Sounds like the exact thing I would use a $100 Wacom tablet for. We've been discussing those over in another thread.

Not that I would buy one just for that, but they do come in useful.

Actually, if you're using Adobe Illustrator, the calligraphic brush tool can do the trick. Just select the tool and draw the line, with no need to fuss with anchor points!

Yes, I agree, the Pen tool in Adobe Illustrator (or any vector drawing program), should be able to give a similar effect. If you're specifically looking for a font, the "Adobe Woodtype Ornaments" font might do the trick. Also, you could also peruse the site DaFont, which has a great selection of shareware/freeware fonts (all legal)! Maybe there's a symbol/ornament font that might suit the bill.

you could easily just use the pen tool to create the curvy line then add some decay brushes etc.
