Yeah i do know a few ppl in different countries, i've stayed with a few on different holidays in the past but this will be a lot bigger and longer i hope. I have about £11,000 saved now, which isn't bad. I don't mind working or anything while i'm travelling either, also its 6 years till i'm 30 so plenty of time to save yet.

DaveyBoy, if you plan to travel around the world, get to know (well) a lot of people on the internet from around the world, the advice, guidelines and even the roof over your head or a hot meal are like gold. Not only will you see the real countries (it's more than just tourist crap), you should get an insight into a persons life in that country, worth every minute of it. I did this when I travelled, meet over 20 people, stayed with a few but got to see and do things a lot of others wouldn't have the optunity to do. Save a lot, you'll need it, my first big trip cost me 30k but the exchange rate did bottom out while I was in the US and UK

If you mean goals as in web design, then i dunno really...i've always been of the opinion that the code (standards, using tableless code...blah blah) isn't anywhere near as important as what you see on the browser window when you view the site. So i want to just brush my photoshop and flash skills up a little. Aside from that, just to keep up doing what i've been doing since 1998 and that is, putting everything into the work i produce and hopefully obtaining a high standard.

My goals in life, well I have a fair few - i want to do a lot of travelling, i've been saving for the past 5 years so that when i reach 30 i can go and travel more of europe and australia and perhaps some of america. It's been hard to save sometimes but that's my main goal, to do that.

Other than that, just to stay with my girl and eventually get married to her, have a coupla kids and then i think i'd be a happy person

Goals in terms of what? That's a rather open ended qustion really. A good one though!

One of my goals is to promote high quality website development. That means web standards, yes, but also many other aspects of design that tend to be overlooked. I think a lot of web designers are getting caught up in web standards, and that's great, but there are many, many other aspects of development that are just as, if not more, important. Such as? Usability, functionality, accessilbity, communication.

I also think there is also a lot of work to be done in getting website developers and people in general to understand what is a good website. You still see a lot of sites out there that are visually impressive looking - and web designers might look at it and be very impressed - but it doesn't come close to accomplishing its goals as a site. It might not even know what its goals are. You also see a lot of "web designers" who claim to care about all these things (usability, functionality, communication etc.) but dont' seem to be able to demonstrate it in actual site development.

So one of my goals is to spread that message and educate the webmaster community.

On a more practical level, one of my goals is to grow this site and build it up to its potential. More on that shortly (I hope! I know, I keep saying that...)

On a personal level, in order to accomplish the aforementioned goals, I need to get myself on a better career path which may involve returning to school.
