Here is a site I bookmarked, I like using it to gauge the viewing angle on my monitor to match my desktop system:

http://www.photofriday.com/calibrate.php

Have you calibated your monitor using the Adobe Gamma utility in the control panel?

I don't have exactly that but I do have a color management tab that lets you choose from a number of preset profiles or define your own. That could do something too.

are you using a PC? on your desktop, right-click on a blank space and go to properties, once a child window opens up go to settings tab, click advanced, goe to the name of your video card tab, then look for it there under the color settings (Im using a Geforce Card here)... (ATI has its own too)

I can help here too anyways I have to share this: When I choose colors for sites I usually forget to turn off my digital vibrance toggle of my Video Card, So colors and pictures tend to look better on my monitors (I also turn on digital vibrance on my coders PC as well as every PC I have), Then when I look at other PC's which their owner had never activated and never knew there was a digital vibrance control for their VC my color combos still looks ok but not what was intended, so any thoughts about this or shall we make a survey??

Could you upload what youv'e got and let me take a look? Sounds like your monitor can't be trusted, unfortunately I can adjust from there then. I think the monitors I have here is pretty reliable for colour - and I have two to check! (both CRT though)

Hi Megan

Just an update on what i tried. I went with your suggestion for the red with a touch of blue: 66002c

For the Gold I went with more yellow: f9de1e

When I tried the codes suggested it looked very orange and too dark (on my monitor) sitting next to the wine color

Thanks Megan. I will give it a try tonight

JeevesBond the home lcd looks worse than the work lcd. i do not have a crt or know anyone who does really. I will have to try from an internet cafe as well to make sure I know what the rest of the world is actually seeing

Thanks again megan. The gold can be hard and I guess that might have been the problem with the reds before. In PS they look good but on the site with yellow next to them they looked brownish. Ill try the maroon/wine 66002C you suggested and see how that goes.

Cheers

#CAA200 (gold) with #66002C (maroon/wine) looks good to me. Good to have a little more blue tones to the red because otherwise it looks too brown next to the gold.

(You will want to check this on a number of machines - gold/yellow can be hard to get right)
