Oh...Megan I use Edit Pad, an old version which is just a plain old text editor and nothing more, but I think it's evolved...a quick look tells about syntax coloring with the Pro version:

Jabez - I tried First Page 2000 about .... oooh, probably 5 years ago when it was current. i thought it was a blatant rip of Homesite which I was a big fan of at the time.

I'd still like something simpler than that though. All that extra stuff is pretty much overkill for my needs. HTML-kit is okay but I'd still like something cleaner.

I have been using 1st Page 200 (1st Page 2006 coming soon) and have been using it for years. It is like HTML-KIT but easier to use. It has all the features that are needed to create a site. I create all my sites with it.

I can also recommend HTML-Kit, have been using it for years and it's very good.

Unfortunately it went "commercial" a while ago and now a lot of the plugins can't be obtained without buying the full program. If you're just looking for syntax highlighting though you really can't beat it

It supports the same things Notepad++ supports and more, like built in html-tidy engine, link to validations, supports plugins, tabbed interface, just check it out so that I dont sound like im promoting it or something... LOL!

HTML-Kit, sorry. Didn't like Ultra Edit - too much programming stuff I'll never use, and I didn't like the syntax highlighting.

Notepad++ is a (free, multiplatform) open source text editor with syntax highlighting for lots of languages (including HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, ASP, XML and SQL), tabbed windows, brace/indent guideline highlighting and an advanced find/replace function. (It's got lots of other features, too, but those are the ones I mainly use).
