I'd stick with the linux one, even if it is only HTML now, that leave options open (for me) down the road if additional features are needed. I'm not saying one is better, it is just a preference based upon which I use. I have had hosting on FreeBSD servers with PHP and mySQL since 1997, and have a similar systems here at work for playing around.

I am however starting to learn ASP, just mainly becuase around here, that is what is hiring....

for just a static HTML site it wouldn't matter what type of server it was on, when you add server side, need for security, speed, apps ... it's a different story.
