I take it "Serif web plus 9" is an editor.

open up notepad (not word or wordpad).
now go down your code until you find
error 1
you will see:

the reason for the first error is because you have the and tags (open tags) inside the noscript tags without being closed, I haven't been through your whole code so for now comment that section out, so it would look like:

i see a lot of your errors are because of alt atributes. Put alt atributes in all images and that should get rid of about 20 errors.

Just fix one error at a time, if the report says 100 errors, ignore from number 2 onwards, fix number one and test again. In most cases you will find the first 5 errors (sometimes not even that) are all there are, the rest are being created by the first errors.

Work on your HTML first. This is a very painstaking process at first, until you get the hang of it. It might help if you post your validation results here and we can help you go through things. Sometimes even one mistake at the top will throw off the whole page and you'll get all kinds of other errors just because you forgot to close a tag or something.

What have you done so far to learn xHTML? You may also want to start with something a little less strict like HTML 4.0 transitional. Definitely don't do xHTML strict yet.
