I've installed two so far. It's not difficult to install and get working but you might need to ensure that, for example, users email addresses are not visible when a guest views the member list.

What I mean is consider all the settings you may need to change to protect your members' privacy, what members can do and what guests cannot do.

I found it difficult to change the skins so just used the default. The logo is easily changed - just save the picture of your choice over the default logo and upload it.

I've installed it before, not difficult if you know how to do these sorts of things. But then it always seems easy when you know the answer!

I run a mambo site which uses php and wanted to include a forum. I looked at phpbb and was just about to start implementing it, when I found a mambo component (simpleboard) that seems like it can do the trick. I'm not sure how it compares feature for feature with phpbb, but so far it looks to be able to do all the basics real well. You can see what it looks like at my site quickloan2day.com. The nice thing is that it is integrated into the website rather than being seperate.

I installed it once about 3 years ago. I don't remember having many problems with it (and I'm not generally that good with the more technical things). You could even get someone to do it for you if you can think of something to give them in return.
