I think the colors are very dull -- it would help to add a splash of color. Also, some of the button text's are very hard to read.

Until your site catches on more, I'd limit the number of catagories. Whose going to want to post in a forum catagory that has 0 topics? Start out with 2 or 3 catagories so the "Posts" number gets high. Then as the forum catches on, start adding new catagories and move existing threads to the appropriate catagories.

Also, like is said before, find a new skin or template. That one is boring.

And if this catches on, look into the associates program for car manufacturers that young people would be interested in as well as insurance companies, automotive stores, etc.

Locations should be next to the avatar, but they are in their profile, and i will start makeing sure that they post where they are from when dicussing such topics.

Since there will be talk about laws with driving on there, and they change by location, I would recommend having it display a "location" of the users if they decide to provide it. (or perhaps no one provided it).

A good example was the thread on driving in the left lane, someone posted "it isn't illegal". However in some places it may be. I remember a couple of years ago an article in the paper about how west virginia was cracking down on drivers from Ohio who ride the left lane, and they would receive a ticket. (they did provide a good argument that if the left lane was used properly they would need to resurface it less than the right lane, saving money)

Anyhow, since others may possibly hearing advice on what is legal, it would be good for them to be able to see where people are from when posting legalities.

Thanks megan, i will keep that in mind because i am going to redo the site soon, they do own the design, i have absolutly no idea on how to install a phpbb forum, so i went with this one. ( hey this is my first site )

Ha! Like we're the ones to talk about a forum as part of a larger site It can work - it's just harder.

I agree about the skin though. There's not really much to say. There should be a better logo/header as well. You could probably find a graphic designer to help you out with that in exchange for a credit and linkback. I've never heard of Xsorbit before - if you use one of the more popular boards like vBulletin or phpBB you'd be able to find more pre-made skins.

The forum listings are a little long. I think a lot of people have a tendency to put everything and anything to start when you really don't need to. The regional sections, for example - what exactly are people supopsed to be talking about in there? (rhetorical questions)

The first section is also a little long. Many, many psychological studies show that people can only process 5-8 choices at a time. So when you've got more things start to get confusing. You could make a general discussion section at the top with your general driving discussion, off topic forum, introductions, and in the press. A few others could be conbined (Car care/car touble; first time behind the wheel/just got lisence). You've got to think about what people will actually be talking about in here. How much is there to say about getitnng your license? Whoo-hooo, I got it, now I can go party ..... umm... what else is there to say ?

There really isn't anything to review, it's a standard forum that doesn't look remotely customised.

IME forums work best when part of a larger site and I definitely think that's the way you should be heading with this, articles, stories, etc to give the site some good content and a reason to visit rather than just the forum, plus it would then be easier to get rankings on the SEs as you have more of a static site for them to crawl through.

The forum is good. I'm guessing you can't add a banner because you are on a remote host, correct? If you can, I think you definitely should.

I think your site would be more successful if it was an actual website as well, with the forums actually on the site, rather than being hosted for free. Even since you have a domain name, you could use a good, free host to do it.

As it is now, the design is good and I wish you the best of luck.
