Well i've talk to my instructor and he just say make two backup of one for cs2 and one for cs. -.- I guess there's always problems , but an upgrade will have to do.

(bushman) yes that's what am concern of, but hey am not too worry since I dont have the ill. 10, but there may be some slight problem along the way. I heard you can get an upgrade for $99? am not sure i'll check with the instructor tommorrow. (hopefully the class wouldn't being so boring) "click here to close the application." -.-

CS2 backwards compatibility problems

You might have problems since Illustrator CS2 uses a new feature called "Smart Objects", which is not compatible with CS1. Also, many other "new technologies" have been introduced into CS2 which CS1 doesn't have.

I would suggest you test it out first! Try exporting your CS2 document to CS1 or legacy AI format. Then try opening it in CS1; it should work, however, it might do some weird things to your text. Also, try saving as a PDF with Illustrator compatibility checked. This could be another option.

You should also try the Adobe.com forums, post a new discussion on the subject, and maybe an Adobe Tech Support person might respond. I think there are a few CS2 Illustrator users who have the same concerns.

Also keep in mind that, as a student, you can purchase the complete CS2 suite, or individual components, at great student discounts! The student versions are identical to the full retail versions, no features have been disabled. The only difference is when the program loads, the splash screen displays that it's an educational copy. If you really need CS2, this might be another option.

Well it does, Illustrator 10 & down. But the instructor said some minor issue will appear since that is an older version. I think if you have ill. 10 and save it on a disk and then open in CS2 , it will have problems loading up. Maybe because of the new functions?

I'll give it a try this upcoming week.

I would say so, because not a lot of the underlying technology has changed, but test it out before you depend on it
