its an HP power edge server, URL is centcom.mil, I have default docs as default.asp, home.asp, index.htm, default.htm. The default I am trying to use is a default.asp. I think it may be some kind of permissions or sharing issue and am going through the iusr accounts now to ensure that the files have the appropriate permissions

sounds like a default document problem

More info needed

URL, server type, default doc setup etc

I tried the with and without www and same same. I inserted and index file and my error changed from a 404 to a 403 (forbidden) the IP is the same because we have a dhcp network and I assigned the same static IP to it that my old server had so that DNS wouldnt be an issue.

Are you just using .html (or .htm) pages or server side (.asp, .php, .other)

Usually the directory listing would give a forbidden error message

How can you have the same IP if you changed server?

Have you tried the path with and without the www? yoursite.com and www.yoursite.com

try this, make a new folder, call it temp, upload a index.html file to it (just put "Number 5 is alive" in it or something) then try find it, try yoursite.com/temp/ you should be able to see your message

Is it the domain in your profile? I tried that one but it timed out. That url is a sub domain so depending how it is set up the files may be in the wrong place, they could be in a folder or at base level (root). You could be uploading to a sub-sub domain, meaning if there are no files, just folders it will need to be accessed by folder.name.domain.com
