I think you've got bigger problems than CSS/tables. In the grand scheme of things what you use for layout isn't all that important.

As ms creashuns mentioned, it is a very plain layout. I like the red colour scheme but the other colours are poorly coordinated (red + pink + light blue is not a good combination). THe logo needs a lot of work - consider hiring a logo designer to make one for you. I can think of a few ideas already: perhaps a beating heart with the text next to it in a fun, unique looking font.

The main body area is poorly designed. It looks like you made the google text bigger and changed the text formatting so it would take up more space. I would see no problem with making the outer box area smaller in this case. You don't have much content here - in this case it's not a big deal. Ad some page graphics or shrink the frame instead of trying to fill more space.

You could just keep this super simple. Don't think of it as a regular website that needs content. It's not, it's just a cute little application. Keep the outer frame small and simplify the design. I think it would look good with rounded corners and a wide white border.

It's very plain if you ask me. You need some more separation within the tables to keep it from all blending together, especially since everything is the same font. The links at the bottom need to be a more contrasting color. The blue-ish gray color against the red does not appeal to my eyes.

I'm also not really sure what the calculator...err...calculates. It gives you a percentage when you push submit...what exactly does this percentage represent? How much of their love is directed towards you? or what?

normally people would say "white red text eww" but again it works for this layout.

I noticed the male oriented comment as well, and I tried my name and my bf's name in both positions and got two different values! Apparantly one of us loves the other more!!
It's a cute little site but I would add some curves to it, it's very boxy and plain. I agree with needing some sort of logo, and maybe adding a pattern or a gradient to the background? Also I would centre the image vertically as well as horizontally. In Firefox it was right at the top of the screen. I don't know CSS that well either, but I bet it would fix that.

Oh, I think we all missed one major issue that only myself, Megan, or some similar member of the greater sex would notice...

It's really only oriented to males.

You might want to change this to something more generic, or you're cutting off half your audience! I think "Your lover's name" would do just fine.

Im not sure, but it seems to me that you meant to have everything centered, but in Firefox, the data-cell is all left-justified, while the text centered...

Now this problem can be fixed REALLY easy with CSS. And because of what you are trying to accomplish, it would be very easy for you to get some CSS experience.

You can experiment with some CSS by putting them in an HTML document inside the tags, and inside the following:
