    <description> &lt;p&gt;Sounds like the site itself would be fairly standard (scripting language and database to manage the content), but getting all that content would be a huge task. You could get some type of CMS (MovableType, pMachine, Drupal, etc) to help, but I imagine you&#039;d need to customize it a bit. I&#039;m sure there are lots of local sites that have the content you&#039;d need (for instance, in my area: activedayton.com), so maybe you could find a lot of sites like that and partner w/ them to share their content (via RSS maybe).&lt;/p&gt;

    <description> &lt;p&gt;That sounds like a really neat idea. It could also work as a springboard for local artists - a way for them to find buyers and/or an audience for their work. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I don&#039;t know of any particular software for this sort of thing - you could look around for similar sites and see what they&#039;re using.&lt;/p&gt;
