$textWidth = $bbox[2] - $bbox[0];
switch ($alignment) {

$x -= $textWidth / 2;

}

imagettftext ($image, $size, $angle, $x, $y, $color, $font, $text);

}

I don't use GD (only image::magick) so am unable to test it for you, hope it helps
