Well, since it uses Javascript to calculate things like visit length and that it's quite possible the 0:00s simply don't support the javascript you're using.

I guess cookies planted by these site meters never record the time unless it reaches a full minute... Most surfers unless they type up or your site is read a lot would move through pages quite fast... I guess we need to write some letters to their tech support and ask them...

I have seen Sitemeter record some bots before, but not often. But the sample below is another O hit, not from a bot.

I don't think Site Meter records spider hits (perhaps an upgrade account does?). Here's an example of a zero visit length hit:

Domain Name verizon.net ? (Network)
IP Address 71.110.26.# (IANA - Reserved)

Quote: Yes but you don't get 10 -12 visits a day from webbots.

I agree there, 10 - 12 visits a day from a SE bots is very low. obviously not a very well linked site then I would guess.

BTW bots don't wait for graphics to load or external files etc they pull the source code and leave, so their "on-site" time can be measured in milli-seconds

Yes but you don't get 10 -12 visits a day from webbots. The meter will record the IP, and other information from the hits; this shows it's an actual visitor. But the strange thing I was pointing out, is why do they bother to even visit for 0.00 amount of time.
I don't even bother with sites I know I am not interested in. And if I do visit a site, I will usually look at at least a page or two. I may not be there a full minute, but Site Meter will record the time of visits like that. 0.00 means they fly just as the page is loading, maybe even before the last graphic! has loaded. Now: why do they even bother?.

SE crawlers only land on one page and leave, and it only takes a fraction of a second to retrieve the source

The counter I am now using does not provide for that. I tried one that would, but the crazy thing double counted the visitor hits. I haven't looked around for another.

I see that alot also, but have no explaination. Have you thought about adding the counter to all your pages? It really would give you a bigger picture on all of your traffic.
