I think the best way to learn these things is to read other reviews. Read what the more experienced designers have to say about other sites. Then you'll learn to pick out the finer points of good design.

That said, we are working on some ideas for future improvements and a feature similar to this is one of them.

One mans rubbish is anothers treasure, so really it's all just opinions and web standards to go by, but in saying that there are many standards, HTML (3), XHTML (3), CSS, WAI, 509 etc.
You may include a poll with your review but if you look back over past threads you'll find polls aren't very successful in this area.

There are a lot of talented designers among us, highlighting their work could be good for them but also off putting for newbies, we all had to start somewhere.
