Thanks Busy but if you read the previous post of mine its explained there, but ill explain it again, in css and html validation my page doesnt completely validate because of an host links and as on my raw code, the only thing that never validates is the long spacer code which you mentioned is the code... Now, this is because it is my hack of tripods banners, the banners are annoyingly located at the very top of my page and is quite large so i figured i push it way downwards. Ill be posting for review my new website soon with a different topic and different url, it will be the outcome of all your suggestions guys... Thanks again...

Wooh dude, you gotta cut back on the HTML

The lesson for today, the section, HTML IS NOT TO BE USED IN THERE, you have about 33 lines of which is messing up your display, your page is very lonnnnnnnnnnng.

no tables, very good
I think the columns style is outdated but done correctly nothing is. You say you'll be focusing on gadgets, mainly stereoset ups etc, maybe use that as a theme (dont go overboard thou).
I remember you saying you are new to this, you've done pretty well but you need to get the colour phase/ texture phase out of your system, we all went through it. Most sites use white backgrounds for a reason (easier to view, fast to load ...) but colour also has a place if used wisely, the golden rule is KISS (keep it simple stupid)

red on blue is real hard on the eyes

Well its always what I do to those that helped me develop my site, I like crediting them with posting their links or placing their urls on my code...

Anyways thanks again for indulging me again coz I value your comment a lot... steve helped me quite a lot too...

I was looking at webby awards and others, I just comparatively based them on user points or some say as crowd favorite...

Now I use Jascs Paintshop Pro 9 and I know how to anti-alias graphics, but I like the jagged look on edges with the tribal design, as you can see my bars and boulders are anti-aliased... but thanks for commenting on that... also the black on gray line is a suggestion of my girlfriend coz according to her it lesses strain on eyes when reading, especially with numbers... Anyway coz of you I might just have someone to back my claim up that the background is quite unecessary...

The gray bg is my choosing coz it contrasts the brighter colors present in the page... and as I see most corporate and formal web sites contrast their bright colored themes with gray as a natural contrast... Anyway I maybe using a wrong shade ..

Yes Centering doesnt look quite right on this intro page I might change that, I was hoping to drag the eyes to scroll downwards, anyways thatll be corrected soon... Also the Font size ion the first part is also going to be corrected... Too small really...

Thanks Again...

Quote: So Thanks A Lot... Ive been scouring TOP AWARDED Websites and guess what I found out? The Top 5 (most) is flashed based... the next are plain looking (CSS based) designs which are simple to read and functional... Now that I get that most visitors dont like funky designs, expect a huge change on my website soon (the front i mean) the contents would follow....

I'd like to know what awards you are looking at here (I don't put too much stock in that sort of thing actually), but you're right about the simple part. In some cases it's okay to get a little funky, but usually, especially when you're a beginner, it's best to keep thiings simple.

I don't think I mentioned this in the first review but you're still doing too much with backgrounds. The black lines through the content section are just distracting from the content. I also really don't like the grey bakcground. It looks very drab. You've got a good theme going with your graphics, but you really need to learn how to anti-alias. Check the "help" in your graphics program or do a google search to learn more. If you tell us what program you're using we might be able to help you out.

Another simple design trick you should know is that cetnering text generally doesn't work on screen. It works well in print sometimes, but not on the web. Left align the text, and make it a little bigger so people can read it more clearly.

Thanks for the TWF link on there

Thanks Megan for directing this thread properly thats why I was asking if I,m breaking any rules, Wont do it again...

Thanks Steve40 youve been really a great help, and we almost have the same interests. Anyways thanks for reminding me about the Charset and the keywords, I forgot it when I was too excited starting up my new page, he he he. About the ISO sunset thing I'll post some notes If I get to try it...

and...

karriston wrote: I know you're new at this so I'll be easy on you:

1. The background really hurts my eyes.

2. It annoys me, and I know that it annoys other people too, when the background stays still while the content moves.......ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

If youve seen the old one you might had picked out your eyeballs, thanks to all that commented earlier I fixed that one, now its not a background its a static graphics margin, I'll be fixing that soon including auto adjust to higher resolution as suggested by wwwben

karriston wrote:
3. I looked at your code, something's wrong.... you put the "spacer" in the head tag. It may work (I think) but it's better if you put it outside it (I think).

The Spacer is my hack of tripods banner ads that appear directly above the page, I placed many of them to push this banners way way down... Ive tried putting it outside before and it doesnt work...

karriston wrote:
I'm new at HTML too, so I may be a tad hypocritical. But I'm learning, and so are you. Don't just stick in copy and paste code all the time, try to learn how to do it yourself and, who knows, maybe someday you'll be as good as modest old me.

I know how to do the code done by the javascript kit, but when I was learning theyve helped me realize some things about css, and theyve done already what i needed to do, thats why im crediting them...
Thanks for the comments...

Merged threads to keep all comments together. There is a point in the posting agreement about not starting new threads about the same site. We prefer to keep all comments together for reference, especially when the old thread is still active.

Hopefully this will explain any confusion going on re: old thread/new thread.
