    <description> &lt;p&gt;In my limited CSS experience, any negative margins up against the edges will invariably cause this to happen. Best to use float:left and float:right and that sort of thing rather than exact placement of items. In other words, elements within the div should have dynamic widths/relative placement.&lt;/p&gt;
