Heh I did everything Busy suggested, heck i've tried working with them but it seems they just don't get how much work it takes. I think in the end I might have to just say "things change move on". That's what its gotten to now.

I agree with busy. Give them some level of involvement in the changes - let them feel like they have some say. Also warn them ahead of time so they have a chance to get used to the idea, and explain why the changes will benefit the community.

Changes, love them or hate them but they have to happen.
From my experience on big sites, the way is the changes are made and maybe a mention of why in the forums and then no further mention by admin and it usually blows over until the next 'event'. That's the most common method, IMO it could be done better but it works.
You could run a poll asking for opinions on the changes, yes, no, not sure (you are in command of the results *I didn't say that*)
You could do all the changes at the same time so they wont know which one to moan about.
You could make a competition including the new changes, so people have to get to know the changes and they usualy except them.
Lastly, make a pubic annoument that ou are going away for a week or two and are leaving your cousin 'wally' in charge ... thens it's not your fault
