I had a similar experience with another D-Link product. I have started doing some part-time work for profit that only had a dial up connection, so first on the list of things to do was get ADSL. Unfortunately the only phone line that was available was in a small out of the way storeroom, but that is another story.

So I get the ADSL sorted out and buy some wireless equipment to connect it all together and everything is fine until I try to add in a notebook. I installed a DWL-G650+ cardbus adaptor and when it is connected to the network the notebook locks up at random intervals.

Apparently this is a known issue and they keep sending me replacement cards in the hope that they will fluke one that works. So the other day I said enough, just give me my money back. Support came up with a new solution; they would send me a DWL-G630, this is guaranteed to work. When I queried the fact that this card has less features and retails for two-thirds the price of my original purchase the initial response was “well do you want it to work”. After some back and forward on this they have now offered two of the DWL-G630’s.

Should get them next week so I will revisit this to let you know how it all turned out.

Good for you Greg...

All I can say about this is before buying anything, it is best to search for some targeted products first and looking on for some problems that will be a factor... Newer BT dongles through usb dont require that much installation other than plug it in windows xp pro sp2... or sp1 with additional usb driver support... anyways, these experience of yours might help others...
