yeah i have already posted the job on a contracted web programming site. im merely looking for an opinion to how fast it would be. i have a quate for around £500 so it looking good. the money is not a problem anyway. could i ask question to anyone who would like to answer it. are there any people out there who use more then one p2p network. and do you have alot of trouble with downloading incorrect songs. say mr blobby when it supposed to be john coltrane.

Unless you are an experienced programmer you aren't going to have much luck on your own. You need to find someone to work with you who has experience of writing desktop applications (perhaps a C or VB programmer) and someone who is experienced with Server side code (python, perl, php) and someone that can set up the servers for it.

I would say you are going to need quite a few thousand dollars and several months of development to get something like this off the ground.

trust me on this google desktop is not the same. mine is not a program that everyone installs for their won purpose's. its a search engine with a twist. and a clever one at that. its not even in the same market as google search. but thanks for your input anyway. if anyone has any construtive and helpful info i would be much obligied. and would also be willing to keep you informed of its progress. if your interested that is!!!!

nice one. it would only be tranfering the header file information over. not the whole file. im guessing that on average the people using the search engine would have around 200 files to be tranfered. would this be slow still what would your educated guess be to how long it would take. (just the header file info) it is not essential for the users header files to be indexed instantly as they wont be searching for files they already have, but this does need to be done before they exit the site. is it also possible for this to exucuted while 'they' use the search engine.

Ok, what your going to need to do I find some one who can write a "signed script" When you got that box that says "Trust content by -your company here-". If you can find someone like that then its not going to be cheep!! But it is possable.
About the speed thing... no fast way to do it so would need loading screens.

no you wont be searching your own hard drive. think of it as a peer to peer with a middle man. well thankyou anyway. would a web programmer be the correct person to employ. its more of a piece of software that runs as a background function for the search engine.

its kind of a secret.lets just say. if this idea is possible, and can be done with relative speed and acuracy. it will be the only search engine of its kind. do you know if its possible.
