Sorry if this is a bit late, but your site looks fine.
I'm just a newby at web design so just getting my websites to work properly is a challange.

From a visitor point of view though, I like the design, It's different and that's probably something visitors will notice and remember your website for.

It's really easy to find your way about but IMO I would change to a different colour from black.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. It is much appreciated, and I plan to implement most, if not all, of the feedback once the client signs a webmaster contract.

I'm not totally sure what you mean by this, Megan. The client definitely wants to keep that painting as a part of the navigation, as it is apparently an award-winning painting.

I'm not sure of a way to do what you recommend while keeping the painting, which has a definite bottom. The top could be extended indefinitely, since it's black, but the bottom is more definite. Any ideas?

Hopefully I'm making sense there, and correctly understanding what you're talking about.

That's actually purposefully part of the style of the site, to go along with "arni anderson artworks" being all lowercase, which he specifically requested. In fact, I should actually change the options on the left menu to be all lowercase, now that I think about it.

I have to agree with everybody else about the picture frame style border. It does look out of place. The border just doesn't seem to fit what to me seems to be a Southwestern theme. Other then that It is a nice looking site. The site navigation is easy to follow and I like the color scheme.

The only suggestions I have is that you might want to disable the right click ability unless the artist doesn't mind people using the images. Also you might want to capitalize the first letter of each page title (Gallery,Contact,Workshops) this is more of a personal preference then anything else.

I agree with the others about the navigation area. That frame looks kind of cheesy and the links don't help. I would make them aligned to the left, perhaps with a background change of some sort. (okay, so I think my favourite style of navbar should be used everywhere!). Actually, I think that would look really good if you had the link items done like that and then extended a lighter background colour all the way down the page. That would really help to frame the pages all the way down.

I also think the header area could be improved. I noticed that you moved the name text over closer to the signature piece. I think you should also narrow the line spacing on the name so it all pulls together a bit better. Also bring up the background a bit more so it has more impact.

Overall a good job though. I think you've done a good job of setting a look and feel here with the colour scheme.

I think the frame border around the links should go too, but it's not a big problem. The only suggestion I have besides that is make the links change color when a mouse goes over it (hover). Otherwise it's fine.

Thanks for the feedback, Peter. I disagree about the left column needing centering, and the frame border.

Aside from changing the content (which I'm not authorized to do), I've implemented your other suggestions. Thanks especially for catching the jaggies on the signature!

That, and the underlining in the menu is an automatic thing in Frontpage, unfortunately.

The massive picture frame border around the menu looks out of place on the page, in my opinion.

The large "Arni" text looks a bit jagged - intentional?

I think the left column (all of it) would look better without centering. Also "Home Page", why "Page"? Probably not a good idea for it to be underlined given that it's not really a link.
