I do alot of SEO, basically I would optimize different pages of your site for different keywords and have all of the pages cleaned up so that search engines can read them properly. I would also create a robots.txt file and sepcify sertain things to the spiders. I can help you with marketing by giveing you advice, helping establish recipricol links and more.

Now im not advertising myself here, im just saying what i would do and what most other SEO would do.

Hope this helps

Search Engine Optimisation; an SEO can be one who performs such optimisation work.

That was "back in the day" tho, when the browsers and html specs were the limiting factors. Now we don't really have anything left that can limit creativity so in theory a good design should stay good.

Now that's not to say that the owners won't get bored and want a redesign or modifications but a major design overhaul is pretty rare. (although saying that, I have a client who likes to spend money and has had 3 redesigns in 3 years - but that's his choice!).

I wouldn't hire a webmaster unless I had a crapload of sites that I
didn't want to tinker with and waste all my time.

Personally, I would want an SEO rather than a webmaster, as they
are skilled in both. So why don't you mention that you can keep
track on the latest SEO updats and stuff with your service?

I agree that you should talk to them more about making changes, that should be highlighted more in my opinion. But i do not agree with andy about a good website will always look good. I remember when websites first became popular, alot of those sites now just do not appeal to me anymore.. not just the code either. There are some truths to that though... just my opinion

Personally I wouldn't advertise the fact that your websites are going to look stale in the future a good website will always look good. However a website that is packed full of the latest trendy stuff today *will* look tired in the future. Good design is good design. The only time they should want a redesign is if they make the desicion to change their branding.

Monitoring the website is good but will you *really* do it? I work for a company that have been established for a while now and we have hundreds of clients. If a customer has to ring you and say their site is down then in thier eyes you've broken the contract and that could mean trouble. Also do you host the site yourself or use a third party host? If it's a third party what good will it do? If the site goes down your not able to fix it, the only thing you can do is ring up support who will most likely tell you it's your ISP or it's a network problem and their working on it.

You should concentrate on talking about updates. Things like amendments to pricelists, news pages, events calendars, keeping the website fresh - things like that.
