Specifically box model issues (which despite opinions of some have not been resolved).

In general, using absolute positioning is a recipe for disaster. In specific, you can use it nicely in a lot of ways -- some absolute, some relative, in combination.

When I'm building a site like this, I usually have the header as absolute, and everything else relative.
