SP1 kills the Microsoft Java virtual machine per a settlement with Sun java. Other than that it is pretty stable. Downloading the Java software from Sun Java isn't too bad and it actually works better than the Microsoft version anyway.

I've searched every CD I have. The only one that has 6 gives an error message and can't unzip. All the others have 5.

I'm not sure why I don't want SP 1, except that I have read all over the Web bits and pieces about SP 1 causing all kinds of problems. And doesn't it do something to Java?

Am I incorrect in my thinking?

Find an old Windows CD, perhaps? Those freebie CDs magazines give away often contain browser software.

Why don't you want SP1?
