    <description> &lt;p&gt;Thanks for the tip, but I&#039;m afraid I wasn&#039;t specific.  I was speaking of the main conten area (right) and the left menu area.  I guess there&#039;s not so much of a break as there is an enter.  They stack on top of each other.&lt;/p&gt;

    <title>gap problem</title>

    <description> &lt;p&gt;Looking at your code the one thing I notice quickly is you have your div clear after the end of your content div.  This can give you a &quot;gap&quot; between the content and the footer.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Try simply moving the clear div up one line so that it&#039;s inside the content div.  It will still clear both sides for you, but should eliminate the gap.  Of course the more floating divs you have the tricker it can be to make sure everything is cleared.&lt;/p&gt;
