Markk wrote: Thanks for the replies, im currently looking into the google search box. Hopefully it will help me. It says people can search the web from your site and also just your site. I will update it decide to try it out and give my results. Thanks

Your pages must all be indexed by google for this to work, so if you want it to be current and thurough, you may want to try installing your own script. I was using this script from Matts script archive back in 1996 and it still worlks, just tweak it some, you can pick up the code pretty easily. Its in perl so it should be supported by 99.99999% of all web hosts

you can puruse it here http://www.scriptarchive.com/

Simple search is the one. Good luck

sumeiko, hope you included what so many people forget about - the navigation, and how it effects the results.

If you live in New Zealand, there will be an article in the NetGuide magazine next month about adding a search to your Web site.

hey, new here to the forum too, great stuff. anyway, i came across this today, it's google's free search box, that allows users to search the web, or your site and it's supposedly free! i haven't tried it out yet, but will probably muck around with it.

http://www.google.com/searchcode.html

if you get around to it before i do, let me know how it turns out!

If you site is set up using a database hotscripts.com is a place to try, if your site doesnt have a database them places like google and atomz.com offer a free (and paid) search function.
I use atomz on one of my sites and has been pretty good, one down side to using 3rd party search scripts if you have top or left navigation those links will be picked up before any content. (I moved my navigation to the right).
