    <description> &lt;p&gt;default is left/middle, put valign=&quot;top&quot; in your td cell to keep the content at the top&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;to fix the image problem add another cell and don&#039;t set any height for it, (just background/s) and it will stretch/shrink to fit your content&lt;br /&gt;
heres a real rough example&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;left corner&lt;br /&gt;
 top middle&lt;br /&gt;
right corner&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;left main&lt;br /&gt;
main stuff&lt;br /&gt;
right main&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;left extra&lt;br /&gt;
 middle extra but you could use rowspan to combine it&lt;br /&gt;
 right extra&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;left corner&lt;br /&gt;
bottom middle&lt;br /&gt;
right corner&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;the extra bits are what would grow and shrink, I didnt look at your code but am guessing you&#039;ve used at least 3 rows in the news section, if you have a fixed main table (the one that holds the left navigation etc) just add another &amp;nbsp; into it&lt;/p&gt;
