    <description> &lt;p&gt;ssi stands for server side includes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;it&#039;s completley different with far less functionality.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;it&#039;s basically gone the way of the dinosaur due to its lack of functionality.&lt;/p&gt;

    <description> &lt;p&gt;SSI uses Apache&#039;s built in methods to include files. It MUST be enabled to use it. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;PHP is a different server-side language.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;So you&#039;d be trading one for the other. SSI has less function.&lt;/p&gt;
