Dreamweaver MX is a bit buggy in my experience... I switched to Dreamweaver MX 2004 and all the bugs were gone and it was much smoother to use! It's absolutly the best WYSIWYG editor out there.

Never used Dreamweaver. I have used FP and didn't care for it. I've stuck with Hot Metal Pro. I like its 'Tag' editor and opotions to switch between Tag, full code, or WYSIWYG mode.

I'll go ahead and run the risk of sounding like a broken record to the rest of the posts in this thread.

Used to use Frontpage. A friend recommended Dreamweaver. He sold me his old version (so he could buy MX) and I was amazed at the difference between them. Frontpage <<<<<<<< Dreamweaver.

I started out with FP express, then the full blown FP. After that I discovered DW and have never looked back. I just upgraded to DW MX 2004 and it's the best money I've every spent.

FP is good as a basic intro but there is nothing on the market that can compare with DW IMHO...

Greg - and to show how bad Word HTML is, DW MX actually included a command to clean it up automatically!

The wonderful thing about Dreamweaver is that it combines the best of WYSIWYG along with great code editing features. It's the best of both worlds IMO. Can't go wrong with that.

I have been using Dreamweaver since 2000, before that I did everyting by hand using a text editor. I mainly switched to dreamweaver for better cross browser support and built in scripting behaviors. Currently I have Dreamwever MX (with the full studio), I am looking forward to giving MX 2004 a try once I can afford it.

The only thing I hate worse than cleaning up code created by FP, is code created by Word. Beleive it or not, a local University has a class for those getting an education in Teaching, which teaches them how to create websites so they can put class information online. A friend asked me to help. To my surprise, only one of like 10 porjects even used FP, the rest used Word, Excel and Publisher (which just made ONE huge image as an imagemap). Sad, very sad!

Ok, went off subject there... sorry. LOL

-Greg

Dreamweaver is more than a 100 times better than FP. If you must use a WYSIWYG, DW ought to be your first choice.

Quote: It doesn't insert html that you don't want to be there, like FP did or does.

FP did, does, and probably always will.

I don't know about 100 times better (it may be), but I will say Dreamweaver is top notch. I used an older version of FP and once I went to Dreamweaver, I've not touched FP. However, maybe it was 'cause I was using an older version, which is why I don't flat out say 100 times better!

Only thing I don't like about Dreamweaver is that if you edit alot, change styles, formating and so on, it can make messy html. I like to go in and clean up after I'm done messing with it. It doesn't insert html that you don't want to be there, like FP did or does.
