*moan*

Apparently they have removed the postbit_buttons template. Not hard to fix at all. But I couldn't find it anywhere in the install docs, or even by searching the forums. Thanks for the heads up, Jelsoft.

I've also re-added our Agreement Hack (used only in Website Critique Area).

Abhishek Reddy wrote: I'm not seeing anywhere in the user brief on the left or top of posts that links to user's homepage, contact and such. There was a little row of icons previously, iirc.

Indeed there was... I'll fix that in just a sec.

I think vB still has edge when it comes to inventing/implementing new ideas. But I also think they're behind on the administrative/maintenance side. For example, you still cannot assign a usergroup to moderate a forum, only individuals (something I've seen in other softwares for quite a while). On the flip side, I don't know of any other software that has the Similar Threads feature.

So, do I want to make it easier for myself to administrate/maintain the software or easier for users to find/share information?

hmm.. from the screenshots of the new ipb. it looks like he's getting a couple ideas from vbulletin. haha.

the fancy dhtml is pretty nice though.

I remember it being hell to skin as well. I haven't tried to skin v2 yet so I can't say if its changed or not. All of Matt's fancy DHTML tricks might win IPB a few points though.

templating invision is pretty hard. all that damn css gets in the way. i personally would choose vbulletin over invision.

I love vB. Though now you mention it, Super Mods should have set up permissions. Even admins do! But thats just one small thing to me. If I want to set specific permissions, then I just add the user as a forum moderator for each forum, solves the problem (though not as quick).

IPB v2 is looking pretty good though. I did a test drive on localhost with their latest 'Public Development Release'. Not bad, but I don't think it lives up to vB.

i feel your pain.

i did a google search on 'vbulletin sucks' and came up with some kinky reads.

i think your stuck with this forum; it looks good and has vbulletin branded on it so people will take a look around; i guess they feel comfortable with vbulletin or something. also it works for a site like this one; because they developed it for these types. erm.. i'm ranting now, what wassss i talking about!11
