I guess it is too late as I see the date of your post.The perfect way to transfer data from a laptop is a cable network.It works very well and you have a high speed copying.{link removed}

all you actually need is a cross over wire (about 2 pounds from a computer fair) and a copy of laplink - free on any cover disk nowadays.

bobs your uncle.... or charlie .... maybe joe.....

I'd go for a small hub; allows you to plug in and out when you want and it's immediately available for expansion in the future.

If that's all you want then the easiest is a laplink cable ... you can get one at any Radio Shack or Computer supply store. Also ... if your Lap top has Wireless built in you can get a USB Wireless unit (Linksys one works well) for the Desk top Unit and just do a peer to peer ...

here's the link to the linksys unit I referred to:

http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=34&scid=30&prid=497

(The above link is for information only ... I am not affiliated in any way with the Linksys Corporation)

I want to type up things on my laptop then post them on the internet so it would only be to transfer data from the laptop to the p.c.

No major data, just a word document or 2.
