I use a regular title tag as well... I know that it's important to have the title tag and description meta one right after each other because if you don't have the meta description then the robot picks up the first few words on the page and uses that as the page's description.

Could this meta () have something to do with why my page is loading funny on my computer? I thought about just taking it out, re-ftp my site, and seeing if that helps....

I know that having these metas (
) keeps visitors from having to click their refresh button every single time they come back to a page that has new changes... unless I'm mistaken.

There are so many possibilities and too many meta lessons on the internet to know which ones are up to date and accurate. Does anybody have a recommendation on which online tutorial they find to be "the best?"

In the source there is a java scripting code that I have been using only ... for some reason I'm not sure it's "the best" one to use. I thought that maybe that might be why my page isn't loading properly. (This is just a code I found that keeps your pages from being trapped in somebody elses frames. I find that to be highly useful.)

Thanks for all your help you guys...

Angela

Julia,

Thanks for responding to my post... I really appreciate it very much.

"Check for newer versions of stored pages..." = "automatically"

That's what is selected under that option.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Angela

On all of our sites we only have Meta Keywords & Meta Description and use the normal title tag, not Meta Title. We do not use any other meta tags such as robots follow as I don't think that these have any affect!

As for the keywords & description, IME not many of the SEs pay much attention to these, especially the keywords, but it is worth having them on each page with the description being different on each page, describing the content of that page.

As for your site loading, go into Tools > Internet Options > Temporary Internet Files - Settings, what radio button is on? It could be that it is telling the page to load it fresh each time!

I've been following this thread on meta tags. What are the most important meta tags to have? For example: Title, Description, and Keywords. Are those the main three? Something else I wanted to verify is that I was told that if you have keywords on the main page and instruct the robot to follow through... that you don't need keywords on the rest of your pages. Is that true? I'm trying to find out what the experience is for those that truly have the answer.

I'm in a bit of a delema in that I have tons of pages to work on... but at the same time I don't want all my work to go to waste. If somebody could take a look at the source on my main page and give me some constructive feedback I would greatly appreciate it... my web site is: yoshi2me.com.

Another problem I seem to be having is that for some odd reason when I open internet explorer and go directly to my site (it's the first site that I view) it take FOREVER for my site to come up. I'm on a cable modem connection, I have already messed with my temporary internet files, etc. I called my best friend and asked her to go to my web site and she said it takes no time for the site to come up. In fact... it comes up QUICK. For some reason I think my computer wants to download all the files each and every time I pull up my site. But, once I have the site up on internet explorer the pages (all of them come up quick.) When I close internete explorer and go to open my page as the first page to see it's the same problem again. It take forever to load. Any ideas?

Thanks for helping me out you guys. I really appreciate it. One other reason I'm in a bit of a hurry to fix some things on my site is that it's going to be published as a resource in a book that is due out in the spring. So... I'm trying to get everything in order.

Thanks for your help...

You won't be starting anything that hasn't been decisively argued and concluded years ago.

Frames are good for some applications where you need to reference two or more documents to perform specific tasks, such as some photoalbums (there are better options), server administration, control panels, et cetera.

Frames are bad for all other purposes because: the user cannot link to the information they want (usually, it is rare when a site using frames allows for bookmarking); the search engine repercussions are many; they are extremely rarely accessible.

This has been argued for years and most people don't even bother arguing anymore since it's so well accepted that using frames for non-application purposes is bad practice.

also -> "really"
