That's a recipe for trouble - you're never going to get that in the right place in every browser. I think the slicing option would be the best. Let us know if you need help on how to do that.

how about using layers to position the star image on top of the map image?

Heres what I would suggest at a glance.

Slice the map in such a manner as to have the part of the map that you would like star over, to be a seperate slice from the rest. Then, use that seperate slice as the background image for the cell. Next, insert the star gif into that cell. Done.

Sorry I didn't explain myself well on the first post......
What I'm trying to do is place an animated star.gif on a picture of a map for a location marker...... both are in .gif format.
Is there a way to place the (anistar.gif) on the map I have made and still have the star show as animated when it is viewed on a webpage.
I only want the star on the map to be animated.... not the whole map .
I may be going about this all wrong.
Or do I need to use sometime of .GIF animator program to do this operation.

I didn't mean to say that I wanted a .JPG animated image, just wanted to have an animated image show on a pic.

Excuse my ignorance but I'm a bit new to this.

You can't have an animated jpeg

Also you are going to have problems adding the animated gif to another gif, try it the other way round and then you should still have all the frames in place.

What do you mean adding it to another gif? How are you trying to do that? The animated gif file is embedded with information controlling the animation. This sort of information can only be held by a specially created GIF file. The same would apply with transparency. JPEG cannot hold that type of information.
