Thanks Megan

Hi Megan,

"I think this front page would be better if you just had the ball diamond on a green background and that's it. Cleaner and easier to see the logo that way. I also see a weird empty box on the bottom left side of the green. It would be good to carry this theme into the rest of the site somehow. The other pages are very plain in comparison.

Once you get into the site you'll want to integrate things more. You need your logo on every page, probably in the top left corner as that's where people will expect to see it. Make sure you're using one font consistently (a sans-serif will look best with this design. Use CSS to make sure it's used for all text)."
------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my second website I've created. But the first one was more or less not really a website, but rather a teaching tool for myself.

Anyway, do you suggest a light green background color? As for the empty box you saw, I am going to add content to that box.

I like your idea of trying to carry this theme into the other pages. But my question is how? I've tried to use the baseball diamond as a background for all the pages. However, the diamond shows up double when I try this and
if I add links and content to the diamond, it messes up.

I have designed a few small sports related icons to add to all the other pages.

Just so you know I will be offering loads of sports related content from sports betting tips to fantasy baseball tips. But before I do all that I just want to get the layout/design completed.

Now you seem like a smart lady How would I or should I go about getting my site listed at the top of search engines such as google?

As you can see with my website, I have included the title name of "Sports Portal." I've also used the keywords sports, sports portal, sport search.

Once the design is completed I will be exchanging links with over 100 different sites, including a site which receives over one million visitors
I just love sports and would like to make this a site for all to use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Again, thank you

Best regards,

Edited thread title as per posting agreement.

Looking at the front page, I think this is a nice concept. This is your first site? DId you have a design background in aother media? Either way, this is really well done for a first site.

I think this front page would be better if you just had the ball diamond on a green background and that's it. Cleaner and easier to see the logo that way.
Good work so far. You'll need some unique content to really make an impact.

Hi Mairving,

"Also I noticed on some of the pages, the style tags precede any HTML code, which is not good practice. You should consider using external stylesheets."

Please explain since I have used css. As for your input regarding boring at the top, I agree and have worked on creating some small sports related icons to add.

As for rest of site, I have tried to make it look the same through out, which is why I used same colors and layout, as well as a welcome message with name of site.

Again, thank you for your input

Regards,

Well it is unique. The biggest problem is that it doesn't have a logo or rather the logo is in a place where it is not easily seen. When the page first loads there is blank space at the top and then a search box. There should be something there a little more exciting. The same goes for all of the other pages as well. Make sure that they know what site they are on and it should have a common look and theme to each page.

It is annoying since it has a blend of boring like the top of the page and the sub-pages, then an exciting and unique baseball navs. I am also not crazy about the text and the background color. Also I noticed on some of the pages, the style tags precede any HTML code, which is not good practice. You should consider using external stylesheets. Maybe you could have a sports theme on each of the subpages.
