Sounds like you want to use slices. My best suggestion is to go into the photoshop help section and learn how to use the slicing tools. You'll basically just draw your rectangles onto the image and photoshop will automatically cut them up into separate images, and even put them into an HTML table for you.

I'm not all that familiar with PS 7 as opposed to v. 6. Is Image Ready still a separate program? You might want to use that instead - it's basically a modified version of photoshop with more tools for perparing images for the web, including enhanced slicing options.

Hey MJS! =)

I'm talking about taking rectangles that are the same pixel length and width out of an image. I'd then take the pieces out and put them into seperate files and put text on them to make links. Cutting squares out of an image. I'm using photoshop 7.

For example say there is an image of a sword. I'd cut a square out of the top put it in another file and name it Main Page. Then I'd take the section of the sword below that and name it Forums or something. I need to cut the sword into equal pieces so when they are put in tables they recreate the entire image with text going down the side. I'm going to turn them into flash links really but its the same thing.

Hey Dooga, =)

Are talking about slicing the image or making hotspots for mouseovers or something like that?

Are you trying to slice the image up into pieces to insert into an HTML table? A good professional photo editing tool should have tools for you to do this automatically. Some will even have the option to add rollovers and other effects. Which graphics program are you using?

you could cut squares with triangle images in them in a graphics program (photo shop, paint shop ...) the only other way would be to create an image map.
If you do create an image map, make sure the image is compressed and use alt tags, if you want a lot of triangles dont do it yourself, get a program to do it for you, plenty around - free. the time involved in working out the cords isn't worth the hassle
