Christian_SEO wrote: We have had Google AdSense ads on our site for about 4 months now and have just been dropped from the seoconsultants.com directory because they feel that some of the ads are for bad seo companies or companies that spam.

Google ads also have ads for major SEO companies and provide our visitors with more choices and an option in case they think we are too small or too big for what they want.

We refused to drop the ads and have now been dropped from the seoconsultant.com listings.

Do you think this is fair or good business, or something that goes gainst free speech?

I have had similar experiences with SEOconsultants.com and asked that they remove my listing when they started dictating what I could discuss on my SEO site. Not how I do my SEO but what I discuss on my iste. Its my site and I will decide what is to go on it and what is not, and allow the owner of SEOconsultants ( Ed Lewis ) to do the same.

Do I think this is good business? Not at all, If his idea is that anyone that wants to use adsense is to be removed then I prefer the cash from Google rather than the dubious distinction of a listing there. I believe that I really decided that I no longer wanted to be listed there when I called him and he in effect told me to be nice so he would be in a good mood when he decided what he wanted to do.

I am thoroughly disgusted by those who use spam to sell items. I get 150 spam messages in my yahoo spam box everyday and it's just outright rediculous. The internet should be free and conducive to improving the quality of life, quality of content we have easy access to, moreover the quality of information and quality of business action. I started my own search engine discussion forum and invite those to join who want to build a search engine forum that doesn't promote all that non-sense like anti-competition, pro-spam, pro-cloking nonsense and telling SEO people what they can and can not do. It should all be about working with others, networking, partnering and sharing - those are the kinds of link popularity that should be promoted. I would like to network with others who want to build a professional search engine community and discussion forum, with the best articles, strategies and positive creative ideas. And freeedom.

steps off his soap box.

It sounds like their having a hissy fit - a a sort of reaction to Florida... Really, SEOconsultant doesn't seem worth bothering about, not least if they start dictating terms to people on what and who they can advertise. There are better ways and places to get clients.

That's a good philosophy, Christian!

The IIMA does a lot of events predominantly, and also marketing training, so they are more marketing based than pure SEO. Check their event archives for some details of events, though, and the powerpoint presentations from those events.

Hi Suzanne,

Yes, I know that I can block sites and was going to when I first installed AdSense. But you can only block 200 URLs and I doubt that would be enough to block all the sites that seoconsultants does not approve of, even if that was an option.

Also, if someone visits my site and clicks on a competitor's ad, why should I care...? I have no fear of any competitor anywhere and welcome them all! I figure if a visitors does not click on an ad and contacts me I win, and if a visitor clicks on a competitor's ad, I still win...

Thank you for the link! I had not heard of iimaonline.org before and will check them out. But like waim.org, I am mostly interested in organizations that are more focused on SEO and the search industry.

Also, you can exclude sites that are bad using AdSense. I remove sites that are my competition.
