flashpaper

Hi

I downloaded contribute and it looks like a really useful programme - the only problem is that you need all the ftp details to embed the flashpaper files into the web pages. Our site was developed with a CMS and I haven't any access to the file structure - it's also hosted by the people who developed it and we don't want to have to pay them any more. I can only upload files under 1mb in format - doc .ppt and .xls

To upload a file I just hit an upload button. Thanks for the suggestion anyway - I will probably use this programme in the future.

The other option is macromedia "flash paper". I believe the conversion tool is built into contribute. (also allows anyone to open any m$ office documents even if they don't have the program!).

Hi

Thanks for the suggestions.

What about embedding the powerpoint presentation - what does this mean and would this be the solution for such large files?

I have so many powerpoint presentations to upload and using a CMS I either have to upload each image or file one-by-one or i'll have to zip the htlm folder.

I was going to suggest converting to flash. Powerconverter or Breeze (by Macromedia) are two possible solutions.

Putting a powerpoint presentation on a website is usually not a good idea. For one it is not designed for the web. It is designed for viewing using a projector. Converting it into HTML using powerpoint is less than ideal too since it still has the slide look and loses a lot in the presentation. Converting it to a pdf is also less than ideal since a PDF file is a fixed format mostly for print.

So the way I see you have 2 good options. One would be to convert the presentation into HTML manually. This way you can add hyperlinks to the presentation and make it look better. The other option would be to convert it into a flash presentation. There are some converters out there to do this. It would also probably be pretty large in flash.
