Thanks again Mariving, Since I removed some of those icons from my taskbar everything has been smooth sailing.

I always wondered about those programs, I mean how do you know they are not doing exactly what they are saying they will prevent.

Reminds me of e-mails that I get (you know those ones, you get 5 copies at the same time), that say their program can stop junk mail, yet if they were so good at knowing how to detect junk mail, you'd think they'd know how to send the e-mail so that SpamAssassin doesn't detect it as junk mail LOL!

Greg,
Free space on C: 11.6GB

I installed it because someone recommended it. I already had Spybot and was told that the Spy Speeper caught things that Spybot didn't so I thought I'd give it a try. After I installed it I kept getting prompts to buy updates or something. It became annoying. That's is why I deleted it.

How much space is left on C: ?

-Greg

PS. What led you to install Spy Sweeper? I don't know anything about it, good or bad, however in visiting the site, I personally wouldn't try it with the lack of information on the site (epeciaslly about who makes the program) unless I had a relaible source that recommended it.

Thanks Mairving. I removed 3 icons from my taskbar. Maybe that will help.

Here is a screenshot of my memory settings. Do they look alright?

If you remember, I cringe at the thought of doing anything to the registry so I will try the easy stuff before I even go there.

Virtual Memory is a swap file that is used when you run out of RAM. What icons are showing in the taskbar on the right near the clock. Disabling some of these can help. Get rid of RealPlayer, Winamp and Quicktime for sure. You might also see what is loading on startup by looking in your startup folder and in your registry (start/run/cmd/regedt32), in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run key.
You can also increase your virtual memory by going to My Computer\Properties\Advanced\Performance Options\Virtual Memory.
