In the UK we can opt out of the whois display. We still have to give a valid address, telephone number, email address etc but those details aren't shown when a whois enquiry is done.

It's illegal to LIE. You must provide valid contact information. You just don't have to provide your own home address.

I already did a search on it though intellus (a public records site) and confirmed that he listed his real address. I agree most stars would let someone else register their domain.

1)Because I used a credit card with Godaddy I HAD to give them my real address and they would not take a different address for a false address. So basicly I was forced to remain public (or pay them to make it private). They would not let me lie. If I did my credit card would have been denied. In otherwords they only asked my my address once and would not let me give two.

Are you saying it is different with other hosts or that I totally missed something with godaddy?

2)He reason why I am asking if it is redundant to warn the entertainer is because IF he can lie, would he have not done it already? (you'd think huh?)

GoDaddy only requires your address to get the Credit Card approved as CC issuers use that as part of their validation process.

Are you thinking of contacting stars and charging them a fee to make their domain private? If so I would highly doubt that any star that has their own website, would even be involved at all in the domain registration process. After all you don't think that Bill Gates listed his home address when Microsoft.com was registered. It is also true that a large majority of star name websites are actually owned by porn sites and not by the star themselves.

Redundant to what? I would think that warning him would be your only recourse. Anything after that is his own problem. I would imagine that anyone that famous would use an agent's address instead of a personal one.
