oh yeah, ignore anyone that tells you that there is a virus installed with first page. the file is called sixbuttonsfromhell.izs, and it is a javascript that will simply crash your browser if you click one of six buttons. it isnt a virus since it doesnt replicate or harm your computer. they put it in there as an example.

Editors that add metadata about themselves really bug me, as for the ones that mess with my beautiful hand-written code - the CD they came on get's burnt :flame:

i cannot rave about 1st page enough.

it is the best editor out there IMO and it is free. try it if you havent already, it has 4 modes to code in, easy, normal, expert, and hardcore. (i personally like the layout of expert more than hardcore) it has syntax highliting. (that can be changed if you don't like the colors)

IT ADDS NOTHING TO YOUR WEBPAGE! that is more than you can say for some editors you have to pay for, where they tag your page with their editor name.

did anyone say "free"?

Hmmm, is that a 'feature' of AOL? Forcing you to wipe you HD before you can use another ISP is certainly a good lock-in!

Certainly, this product looks good - a reasonable amount of scripts bundled in as well...Going to have to download it when I get back from work.

oh, well i must have been using version one about 2 years ago. I had to wipe my HD clean and start over with everything (AOL problems when i switched to another company's DSL), and I never dl'ed it.

I'd have to agree with you, jammin, it has features that others just don't. Not complicated, and not a WYSIWYG Editor (even though it can function as one). Two thumbs up.

? i dont see that it is an exact copy they have similarities but that is because they are both good editors, i prefer 1st page since it is free and has some things that homesite didnt have when i last used it, and i also never head of any legal problems.

i dont think that the new version is actualy ready yet. but they are putting up parts of the page before the product is out for some reason.

1st page 2000 was a Homesite rip-off, big time. Is this one any different? At one time I heard they were having legal problems about that, which is why it took so long to get a new version out.
